Paris, Ontario
Coined the “Prettiest Little Town in Canada” (and not just by its residents) Paris is a hidden gem of Southern Ontario. Nestled where the Nith and Grand River meet, its quaint and bustling main street, cobblestone homes and river restaurants are reminiscent of its European heritage. Be sure to stop in at Brae Manor Hobby Farm as part of your visit!
Paris has quickly become one of the hottest day trip destinations in Southern Ontario. A quick drive from Toronto, it offers an array of restaurants, shops, hiking and adventure opportunities. Paris was founded in 1850, and is actually known as the Cobblestone Capital of Canada. All of Canada’s cobblestone buildings – with the exception of a mere three – are located in Brant County. Downtown Paris boasts many beautiful historic buildings including:
The Paris Baptist Church(built in 1885), Wincey Mills (1889) and the beautiful Arlington Hotel(1850).
The Grand River is aptly named as it winds its way from Grey County to Haldimand County, emptying into the north shores of Lake Erie. Downtown Paris has several lookout points with scenic views of the river: two particularly pretty ones are Cobblestone Common and the William Street Bridge. There are also some great restaurants that offer riverside dining including the beautiful Stillwater Plate and Pour (our Brae Manor select caterer)
Located behind our favourite pub “the Cobblestone”, Grand River Experiences offers guided and unguided trips along the Grand with many options for seasoned and novice paddlers alike.
The rail trail offers a gorgeous path for biking and hiking as does Apps Mill and Lions Park.
Whatever you choose to do…. PARIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA!
